Leadership, Experience, Public Service above all else!

believe that being a proactive problem-solver is the best solution to addressing challenging times and helping a community grow!

Lynda Sacco knows the Election issues and challenges facing us, having lived in Brampton Wards 3 & 4 for the past 15 years.   She is a proactive problem-solver who believes in action, not words.  When she first arrived in Peel in 2000, Lynda and her Peel CAS staff worked closely with the Region of Peel and other agencies to establish Peel Youth Village to address youth homelessness.  Lynda has tackled many other issues since then, while also advocating for adequate funding for social and community services to meet the needs of children, youth, families, aging adults and those living in poverty.

Lynda knows what it takes to be an effective representative at Regional Council – looking at the big picture of what is happening in the Region, and considering the needs of a diverse constituency.   The issues are complex and will require strong leadership from a strong City and Regional Council Team ready to take on the challenges!

A former teacher with three children in the school system, Lynda was elected as a school trustee in Scarborough/Agincourt to represent a very diverse and rapidly changing community.   This was an exciting opportunity to acquire the know-how and inspiration to effectively serve her constituents.  Her campaign byline was:  “The System Serving the Child.”

“I believe in action, not words”

1

Traffic gridlock and public transit.

2

The local economy and reducing poverty.

3

Delivering services that meet current needs and planning for future needs of our rapidly growing population.

After obtaining her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto in 1992, Lynda embarked on a career in social and community work that has spanned over 20 years, the past 15 in Peel Region.  She was Director of Children’s Services at Peel CAS for 6 years before serving as Executive Director and Clinical Director in local agencies.  Her experience of collaborating with other community and social action groups has made Lynda acutely aware of what needs to happen in Peel Region now and for the future.

One in 7 people in Peel are poor. Poverty has heavy social costs for the community.  Services are uncoordinated and underfunded. My 20 years of experience tell me that good services cost no more than poor services - the difference is political will and the right leaders!

Lynda loves Brampton and wants to preserve the uniqueness of the Downtown Core, while also proactively planning for future needs of the Region.   The Rose Theatre and many events Peel has to offer are favourite pastimes, along with cycling the Etobicoke Creek bike path surrounded by our beautiful urban forest.

Lynda currently has a private counseling practice and is writing a book about her 20 years in social and community services.
